Blueberries

There are just too many cute things to do around here!
We love discovering new places in our new town.
This week, we went blueberry picking.
This farm was darling.
The kids were so cute.

Ava collected the fewest blueberries because she was so meticulous.
Only picking the very ripest and bluest berries.
Judson picked anything that resembled a blueberry.

And Thatcher mostly filled his bucket with sticks and leaves.

I'm learning (slowly) to love baking and cooking.
I've prayed for years that I would find joy in serving my family this way.
I'm getting there :-)

Ava and I went shopping for ingredients to make blueberry muffins...

And we baked!

The muffins turned out delicious!

Thanks for the fun day and yummy treats, Babies!

Every Good and Perfect Gift

"Every good and perfect gift is from above."
James 1:17

It's so neat to think on this verse.
That every good thing in our life is a gift from our God that LOVES us.
Not that we have earned or deserved these good gifts, but that were given to us in love and grace.

"From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another."
John 1:16

So, I look through recent photos and thank the Lord for these gifts and blessings of love from Him...whether things, people or experiences, we know they are from above.

This piano was in my childhood home and holds countless memories.
It's made it's way into my home again and I'm thankful to have this piece of history for my children to now enjoy as I did.
 (Thanks Mimi and Papa!)

(Amazing Grace is a good song to start with.)

(And these two never turn down an opportunity to make noise.)

Friends!
New friends and old friends.
Friends close by and friends far away.
We are thankful for our friendships that spur us on to love Christ, that hold us up in prayer when we are in need and provide community and fellowship that our hearts desire.
(So glad the world has these dashing dudes to protect it.)

(Love this sweet crew.)

The kids and I get to experience a lot of fun new places because of our homeschool schedule this year.
Going out and watching them explore their world is pretty cool.
(Penny Pickles Workshop...where Mommy doesn't have to say, "NO, don't touch that.")

5 years home with this darling girl.

(There were days we thought you'd never make it home Ava...and now here we are 5 years later.)

Also...
Baseball is back...Can't forget that when I count my blessings :-)

Spring

While most of the country can't wait for spring, I'm sad that winter is gone.
Probably because our weather during winter is the same as spring weather in most places.
Spring means heat is coming and the perfect 60 and 70 degree temperatures wont come around again until next winter.
But we will welcome spring with grateful hearts and enjoy each new day that we are given.
Yesterday was a day that was enjoyed to the fullest.
The first person I met when we moved is a homeschool Mama of 4.
She has been a trusted friend and loves learning through doing.
Yesterday we headed down the freeway to the Botanic Gardens in Encinitas.

Secret gardens and a magical tree house
What a special place.

Everyone, down to the littlest, enjoyed this trip.

The day was complete after a stop at the beach.
Our favorite playground.
And then a stop by Mimi and Papa's house.

What a perfect spring day.

It's super hard to avoid multitasking with so much going on these days.
And sometimes it's necessary.
And sometimes I only think it's necessary... but it's not.
So, I've been trying to enjoy uninterrupted time with my babies.
Even if it's just for 5 minutes.
There IS time, I am finding.

I got a special date with Ava and Mimi.  We so enjoyed this sweet, very girly, movie.

My time with Thatcher typically comes in the very early morning.
Looking at a book and holding him close are special for him.

We also like to sit together and watch the big kids play in the yard.

Judson isn't loving bed time these days.  I look forward to the few quiet moments I get to spend laying with him before bed.  He's growing up so fast.

And even though it's a lot for me to manage alone, my kids love field trips.  Especially my active three year old.  He just loves being OUT.  I'm always glad that we went once it's all said and done.
It's great time to focus on them and only them.

Milk and cookies after a trip to the local dairy farm.

So sometimes I meet needs while also sweeping, cooking, or talking on the phone, but I'm finding how much better relationships grow when I can give some undivided attention as well.
I don't want to miss out on the sweet blessings God has for today through this amazing ministry of Motherhood.

I like these little humans.
Even at 5:30 am

Really, I love doing life with this crew

Refereeing backyard battles

Meeting new friends

Baking some yummies

Planting

Seeing new things

Going out

Or staying in

I am thankful to share my days with these little buddies

Jud the Science Stud

At dinner the other night, Judson told us that he wanted a journal...
like Sid the Science Kid.

The teacher in me was more than happy to grant him this request.
We titled his journal, Jud the Science Stud.
He quickly went to work.
He's turning into a little student right before our eyes.
We love to watch you learn Judson!

With Daddy

Mommy begs and pleads for the littles to help me around the house every day but when Daddy asks for help, they jump at the chance.
His chores are usually more fun, it's true.

But mostly, I think they just love being with him.
(The boys helped Daddy work on a pallet bed for the guest room.)

(Nice job boys!)

It's Challengers baseball time again and that's definitely an Ava and Daddy thing.
He is her biggest fan, her warm up partner, and batting coach.
Ava loves time playing baseball with Daddy.

James you are so loved by me and our children.
My favorite part of every day is when you walk into the house after work, lovingly embracing each little one that runs to you.
We love our time...with Daddy.
