From The Garden...

My sweet sister pre-ordered this book for me for Christmas

It just arrived and it's perfection.
So inspirational and really informative.

Visions of flower farms are dancing in my head.
BUT, one thing I've learned this past year is how much I have to learn.
Mostly just through trial and error.

I planted four ranunculus corms in the fall and only one of them is really doing well.
I love them but I don't know if we will do them again next year.

Dark pink, light pink, light purple, and dark purple sweet peas all over the place!!!
I adore these flowers.
I think these flowers will shout, "Spring is here" in our garden for many many years.

Strawberries!
Just waiting on them to turn red and then we shall enjoy the fruits of our labor.
We've waited a while for these guys.

Our tangerine tree is getting ready to give us some fruit.
The citrus smell is so lovely.

We just stuck some carrot seeds in the ground!

My lovely cosmos have just about run their course.
But, I've got some new ones and new varieties that should be in bloom before I know it.

And that's all from the garden!

Chicken Coop

It's Finished.
Finally!

It was a process...

It is so cute Hubby!
You amaze me.

Great work Babies!

Banjo was a great supervisor and is curious about these new pets.

(First and last time in the chicken run...yuck.  But he just had to sing some "rockabye baby" to the chicks as they adjusted to their new place!

We have some hens that are happy to be home.

Tide Pools

We needed some salty sea air!

So we drove down to San Diego.

The tide pools were SO FULL of life!

And the kids loved jumping from rock to rock, calling us over to see what they had discovered.

Sea slugs, crabs, anemones, and huge, colorful shells!

Yay for some Vitamin SEA, marine life, and family on a beautiful Saturday.

Ava's Heart

Watching Ava worship God in song is my favorite!

I love it because it reminds me ...

"For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." - 1 Samuel 16:7

She many not be able to sing like others in the room, but that's not what really matters anyways.

Her heart loves Jesus and loves to praise him and I pray she keeps singing all her life long,

A beauty on the inside and outside, my girl.

Chicks are out!

We have been letting the chickens out, supervised, for short a time, every day.
It's really fun
The chicks really love being in the sun and we really love watching them play!

(He likes them best)

(Ava likes to giggle and observe from afar)

(Lucy is a fan favorite.)

Can't wait till these little chicks are out of my garage...I mean, out in their coop, enjoying the sun!

Here comes the sun

Sunshine!

The backyard is a happy place again.

We ate dinner outside while the kids swung on swings AND it was light out when Daddy got home!

We got to hike and enjoyed all the gorgeous green!

Thanks for adventuring with us Papa

Just last week we were freezing cold at church...

And the next, these little cowboys were soaking up the sun

A special, spontaneous Disneyland trip would have been sunny even if it was rainy.
These friends are so special.

The babies

Ranunculus are loving the sun

So are the Sweetpeas

It's smoothie weather

We are loving the sunshine!!

From the Garden

Starting to see some fruits of our labor here...

It's so rewarding and fun.
I can't help but think of the similarities between gardening and parenting each time i'm staring at beautiful flowers grown in our yard.
After all the hard work, time and care...they're beautiful!

Anemones...So much prettier than pictures show.
Planted bulbs in the fall.

Sweetpeas, also planted in fall.
Doesn't look like our trellis will be tall enough.
These beauties are just getting started.

I love investing hard work, time, and care into these babes...knowing that God is creating something beautiful in them.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." - Galatians 6:9
